ACC Championship Game Betting - Florida State vs Virginia Tech - Tyrod Taylor

Saturday night’s ACC Championship Game in Charlotte between No. 21 Florida State Seminoles and No. 19 Virginia Tech Hokies is obviously the final conference game for many seniors, but the most heralded senior playing his final ACC game is certainly Hokies QB Tyrod Taylor as he looks to go out a winner and earn another Orange Bowl trip. And Virginia Tech is a 4-point favorite on Bodog’s NCAA football odds with live play-by-play betting available.

Taylor was named the ACC Player of the Year this week and a win against FSU would give Taylor his third ACC title in four years. He has completed 154 of 256 passes this season – a career-high 60.2 percent completion rate – for 2,258 yards, 20 touchdowns and only four interceptions. Taylor has also rushed for 613 yards and four touchdowns. His four picks this year are the third-fewest in the country. Taylor has been the biggest reason the Hokies have won 10 games in a row and are the only team in the country to have won 10 games in each of the past seven seasons.

Taylor is set to become just the second ACC QB to lead the league in efficiency in consecutive seasons and he is one of only four quarterbacks in the country who’ve thrown at least 20 touchdown passes and rushed for 600-plus yards this year. So, yeah, he will be the focus of the FSU defense. But The Hokies also have a dominant trio of running backs — Darren Evans, David Wilson and Ryan Williams. They've all gained at least 432 yards.

The Hokies' only loss in the ACC title game came to Florida State in 2005, and is the Seminoles' only prior appearance in the title game. FSU has won 13 of the last 14 meetings between the schools and boast an 8-1 record against the Hokies with coach Frank Beamer on the sideline. But those were all with Bobby Bowden coach the Noles; now it’s Jimbo Fisher’s turn.

FSU might have to pass a lot behind Christian Ponder as the Noles could be down to their No. 3 running back. Starter Jermaine Thomas is for sure out and Ty Jones is questionable. Chris Thompson has been forced to step up as FSU’s primary back and has done well. He received a career-high 17 carries in the Seminoles’ 31-7 victory over Florida, and is averaging 6.9 yards per carry this year. Thompson leads FSU with 687 rushing yards. Ponder is coming off one of his best games of the year, completing better than 66 percent of his throws and tossing three TDs with no picks in a blowout of Florida.

The last time these teams met, in 2008, Taylor was knocked out of the game on the very first play. Then his backup, Sean Glennon, also was injured and the Hokies suffered a 30-20 loss.
